So, no updates for a very long time here but i will start using this blog more frequent from now on. But it will not be that much reviews but instead i will change the direction of the blog, it will be more about my DVD and AUDIO trades and my wantlist. I will also post some interesting news once-in-a-while and pictures of new additions to my collection… we´ll see what direction it will take.

Title: Opus Diaboli
Label: His Masters Noise
Here is a really nice boxset celebrating 13 years of Watain, the boxset wich supposedly was going to be released April 25 just arrived a couple of days ago to my surprise, the regular DVD edition will be out on May 7. The boxset is a really nice one containing all kinds of stuff, first off the concert DVD, more about that one later, the complete 13 years celebration show on two Cd’s and also on two Lp’s, a nice book with pictures from the bands career, four postcards and also a handsigned (by all five members) certificate of authenticy. The boxset is limited to only 1000 copies, and i got copy number 37.
The DVD is both liveclips from the 13 years anniversary show in Stockholm mixed with interviews with singer Erik, i think that these kinds of DVD’s are, well, let say that about the interviews yes they are fun to watch the first couple of times but after that you wish they were put as extras instead of integrated with the live clips. I personally would have preferred a full on concert DVD. The disc itself is really good, nice filmed and you really get that live feeling, and to be able to watch it in my hometheatre on a 112″ screen in a really darkened room gives more of a feeling of being there than to watch it on a Tv in the livingroom. The only negative i think is the sound, you have option between 2.0 (stereo) and 5.1, but it is a bit low mixed so i had to turn up the reciever alot to get a satisfying volume and i would also liked to have a bit more compact sound.
Overall this is a really nice boxset and a must for any Watain fan out there!
Tracklist:
Death’s cold dark, Malfeitor, Storm of the antichrist, Four thrones, Devil’s blood, Reaping death, Lawless darkness, Total funeral, Stellavore, On horns impaled, A fine day to die, Waters of ain.
Artist: Marduk
Title: Souls For Belial
Label: Century Media
The first single off the bands upcoming album Serpent Sermon is a track called Souls For Belial, about the track there isn’t much to say other than it sounds like Marduk, a mixture of the bands albums Panzer Division Marduk and Wormwood to give you a little hint about the style of the music. It’s fast and raw Black Metal. The second track is an exclusive track for just this single and is a cover of the Woven Hand track called “Oil on panel” wich is a really cool choice just because it don’t sound like anything that Marduk would normaly do and like the band said about the choice of cover “there are too many Bathory covers out there” well true to that! I like it when a band dares to steps out of their normal comfortzone.
The single is exclusive to the latest issue of Sweden Rock Magazine, issue # 92 and the single was only included for subscribers, the single comes in a really nice foldoutcover with a nice stylish artwork.
Tracklist:
Souls for belial, Oil on panel.

Swedish Death Metal band Unleashed will release their new album Odalheim on April 20 through the recordlabel Nuclear Blast Record. The album will be available on Cd and Vinyl, the vinyl will be released in two different colors, one black vinyl (regular version) and on white vinyl (limited edition version) both in gatefoldsleeve 180g vinyl and with a poster. The white vinyl is available exclusivly through the Nuclear Blast Mailorder and will be handnumbered.
Tracklist:
Fimbulwinter, Odalheim, White christ, The hour of defeat, Gathering the battalions, Vinland, Rise of the maya warriors, By celtic and british shores, The soil of our fathers, Germania, The great battle of odlaheim.
With “Odalheim”, Swedish death metal pioneers UNLEASHED not only present the successor of “As Yggdrasil Trembles” in the year 2012, but also continue telling their post-doomsday story, of course embedded into the Norse mythology. After the mighty world tree Yggdrasil had trembled and rung in the end of the world, Fimbul winter followed: Three years of darkness and coldness, during which Mother Nature took back what was rightfully hers. This caused the end of life as we know it. Ragnarök. But the warriors who’ve survived will build a new world out of the old one’s ashes. Right here, the story of “Odalheim” begins.
Artist: Blind Guardian
Title: A Twist In The Myth
Label: Nuclear Blast
Here is a really nice limited edition of the Blind Guardian album A Twist In The Myth from 2006, this version was sold out on pre-orders long before the actual releasedate. Limited and numbered to 1000 copies and a nice oversized boxset wich reminds a little of a book or something. Other than the album in a digipack version with bonustrack you also get a nice oversized booklet, a handsigned photo, a guitar pick, a wax candle and siegel.
The first single from this album was “Fly”, and the first time i heard it i must say i wasen’t that convinced, i really like all the albums the band have done except for the album they released prior to this one, A Night At The Opera, so i was a little worried that A Twist In The Myth would sound similar to that one, and the first single didnt do it for me. After i got the album and had the chance to listen to it a few times i would say it was really good, still like the album. I think that Blind Guardian, who are a power metal band if anyone have missed out on that, have a really high standard on their discography, and it’s more or less only the A Night… album which i dislike.
Tracklist:
This will never end, Otherland, Turn the page, Fly, Carry the blessed home, Another stranger me, Staight through the mirror, Lionheart, Skalds and shadows, The edge, The new order, Dead sound of misery
Artist: Unisonic
Title: Ignition
Label: Ear Music
So it’s finally here, the debut Ep from Unisonic a band features former Helloween members Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen. The first time i heard the song “Unisonic” i was pretty excited and couldn’t wait for this Ep and later on the album to be released, after listening thru this Ep a few times i can’t say that i am as excited anymore. Sure i like what i hear but still.. i don’t know.
The Ep kicks off with the track “Unisonic”, wich i think reminds alot of how Helloween sounded around the Pink Bubbles Go Ape era, Kiske‘s vocals sound as good as ever before and Kai, well Kai knows how to handle a guitar and write power metal songs, enough said. This track is a really good up beat power metal track and i think its a good choice to choose this track to promote the album as it will more or less get all old Helloween fans interested in the band, it sure as hell worked on me.
After this we get the “My sanctuary” a basic radio rock track wich is pretty dull and more or less just fades away into the background, but it gets better, the demo version of “Souls alive” is next, a track wich is my favourite on this Ep, a track wich reminds of a mixture of Pink Bubbles Go Ape and early Avantasia stuff, hopefully there will be more tracks like this on the album, and last but not least we get a live version of Helloween‘s classic “I want out” recorded at the Loud Park Festival in 2011.
You can listen to the Ep for free on Spotify here.
Tracklist:
Unisonic, My sanctuary, Souls alive (demo), I want out (live)
Metallica just released some great news for us who arent that found of streaming or mp3/flac releases, the 4-track Ep “Beyond Magnetic”, who was previously only available on iTunes and other digital download services will finally be released on Cd.
“We’ve been feeling all the love and positive vibes beyond our wildest expectations on the mp3 side, so we decided to go “old school” (!!) and also release those four songs on a CD.”
“Beyond Magnetic” will be released world wide on January 30 and in North America on January 31.
I published a review of the “Beyond Magnetic” in December 19, you can read it here.
