Danzig are now ripping through America with his Danzig Legacy Tour where he perform tracks from throughout his whole career featuring The Misfits, Samhain and Danzig solo stuff. On The Misfits part of the show he is joined on-stage by The Misfits guitarist Doyle and here is a video where they perform the track “Bullet” filmed at the Warfield on that tour. Just pure magic, one can only dream of a The Misfits reunion!
So i know i have been kinda lazy with the updates on this blog for the past weeks, but i have been sick, and now it such great weather here in Sweden, summertime is here, so i rather spend it outside. And speak of summer… Aerosmith have just released their brand new single “Legendary child”, the song will be featured in the new G.I Joe Retaliation soundtrack/movie. And it will also be featured on the bands brand new album Music From Another Dimension wich will be released August 28 through Columbia Records.
The song is a pretty typical Aerosmith tune from their later cataloge, and i think it sound pretty okey, i perfer their older more rocking stuff. Listen to the new single below and let me know what you think of it!
Artist: Jess And The Ancient Ones
Title: 13th Breath Of The Zodiac
Label: Svart Records
Debut single from Finland’s Jess And The Ancient Ones, yet another retroband with occult theme but don’t let that scare you away, cos even though the scene is more or less overflowing with bands like these nowadays i think that Jess And The Ancient Ones are worth to lend an ear or two. The band are female fronted and the vocalist Jess have a really amazing voice and the music is soft rock with lots of melodies and harmonies, they somewhat reminds me of the band Coven, a band wich they have covered on the B-side, they do a really good cover of the song “White witch of rose hall” wich was originally released on Coven‘s debut album Witchcraft: Destroys Minds And Reapes Souls from 1969. “The band’s lyrical concept is based upon the personal occult experiences of the writers, which combined with music the creates a strong mystical atmosphere” as it states on the bands recordlabel. Jess And The Ancient Ones will release their debut album on May 19 through Svart Records, looking forward to hear it.
Side A: 13th breath of the zodiac
Side B: White witch of rose hall
Marduk just posted the official video for the song “Souls for belial” on YouTube, the song is taken from the album Serpent Sermon due out May 30. Souls For Belial was also release as an exclusive Cd-single along with Sweden Rock Magazine issue # 92 and was only included for subscribers. You can read more about the single here. Enjoy the video!
Artist: Year Of The Goat
Title: This Will Be Mine
Label: Van Records
The first single of the bands upcoming, yet untitled, debut album. The album wich will be released late summer/autumn this year through the label Van Records. First time i heard the single i was a bit disappointed, i really liked Year Of The Goat’s debut Ep Lucem Ferre, it was a terrific little piece of vinyl but after listening to the This Will Be Mine single the song slowly grows on me and my expectations for the full lenght album are still very high. On the B-side there is an beautiful instrumental track with some chanting called “Missa niger” wich is supposedly exclusive for this single. The single is released on red vinyl but i am not sure of how many copies.
Side A: This will be mine
Side B: Missa niger
Brand new video from The Coathangers, check out the video for the song “Go Away” here
So, with only weeks away to Crucified Barbara’s new album The Midnight Chase to be released here is the official video to the first single “Into the fire” the video was released about a month ago but i have missed totally, shame on me!
Anyway, i have listened to this song before, and even published it here some weeks ago, and when i first heard it i thought i was pretty okey, nothing special. But after listening to it some more i find it really good, and Crucified Barbara have gone from clarity to clarity i think, their debut In Distortion We Trust i still think is a really good album, but not as good as the following up Til Death Do Us Party, and if the rest of the new album The Midnigh Chase sound anything like the single “Into the fire” we are in for a real treat. I have pre-ordered the album and will put my thoughts on it here when it is released on May 25. Until then, enjoy the official video for “Into the fire”
Here is the official video to the titletrack of Kreator’s upcoming album Phantom Antichrist wich will be released on June 1.
Here is the first single “You give me worms” off Turbonegro‘s upcoming album, the first album with new singer Tony Sylvester. From what i understand the new album will most likely be released during this summer.
So what about this new single than? Just let me say that i lost interest in this band after the Scandinavian Leather album, and i don’t think that this album will bring back my interest in the band. Listening to “You give me worms” it’s pretty obvious how important Hank Von Helvete’s charismatic voice was for the bands sound, now they just sound like any other band i think.
If i want my Turbonegro fix i stick with the albums Ass Cobra and Apocalypse Dudes wich i still consider great albums along with the found memories of when i saw the band back in 1998, i still remember that show with great joy, amazing! I also catched the band on it’s last tour before Hank left the band, it just wasen’t the same anymore, sadly.
