Artist: GBH (Charged GBH)
Title: City Baby’s Revenge
Label: Vap Records
A couple of years after the band released it’s first fullenght it was time for the boys to release another album, this time it’s more well produced, more well played, well it’s more of everything i think. Of all of GBH‘s releases this is and always have been my favourite and i still get as excited now as i did when i was 16 and first hear the album. It’s just impossible not to like songs such as “Diplomatic immunity”, “Drugs party in 526” and “Christianized cannibals” if you are into good music! The album also features a really cool cover of The Stooges song “I Feel Alright”.
Musically and lyrically the band have turned it up a few notch since the debutalbum and it’s fair to say that the band here have found their sound, a sound they have stayed true to ever since. Sure they had a similar sound on the debut also, but that was more raw and unpolished. Unfortunatly i would say the band lost it a little after this record and the albums to come never was as good and fun to listen to as their “City Baby…” records, sure they still made a few songs here and there that sounded just like the GBH i liked but that is about it.
This is the complete Japan release with OBI and a four sided insert with lyrics and hard cardboard cover. I have always been a sucker for Japaneese releases because i think they look so good, and they are often packed with that little extra.
