There have been a bit of a fuzz about the band Goat here in Sweden on various forums and such. The band, based in Gothenburg Sweden, playes a mix of psychedelic rock, african tribe music and voodoo rituals. It’s very hard to describe the bands music, but from what i have heard i really like it, some songs anyway, well, some of the songs i have heard are brilliant while other i didnt like so much.
The band released their album World Music not too long ago and is available on both Cd and Vinyl. Check out a live clip here below, i think it sound really interesting and i might just grab a vinyl for myself. What do you think?
Artist: Black Trip Title: Tvar Dabla Label: Primitive Art
Black Trip is a band wich there have been a bit of a buzz about in the undergroundscene here in Sweden for a while now, the band have release a couple of online demosongs for streaming and have performed a couple of gigs already, but now the bands first single is available for the public.
The band only have two members (as of now anyway) Joseph Tholl (Enforcer) on vocals and Peter Stjärnvind (Krux, ex-Entombed) on guitar, bass and drums. When they play live they have a full line-up. The music is classic heavy metal but still it sounds really fresh and interesting, it’s well played but what makes it the little extra i think is the vocals of Joseph. Listening to this single takes me back to my teenageyears and how fun and exciting it was to find out about new bands and hear new music for the first time, don’t get me wrong here, i still fucking LOVE to search for new and exciting music but there is a feeling about this single that takes me back to those days and that reminds me of why i love this music so much. I have a new favourite band (amongs many other) and they are called Black Trip… can’t wait for the album!
Another really cool thing is that it’s Primitive Art that have released this single, i don’t know if anyone of you remember that label but they released a bunch of really interesting stuff in the mid 90’s like The Coffinshakers, Gehennah, Devil Lee Roth amongst others before they put the label to rest… until now! And this release is a really nice return from that label i must say. The single is released in 166 copies on Red vinyl and 500 copies on Black vinyl.
Tracklist:
Side A: The sleeper
Side B: Eyes of the night

I don’t consider myself a huge The Stooges fan, sure i have seen them live a few times and i have the albums and yeah i think that they have done some really badass songs but it’s nothing more than that.. except when it comes to the song that opens up this album; “Search and destroy” there you have three and a half minutes of pure magic! When the needle hits the wax and you hear that classic guitar riff wich seconds later rips up in a solo its like heaven and then Iggy comes in with the words “I’m a street walking cheetah with a heart full of napalm” … still in heaven… and than the classic words in the chorus “I am a world’s forgotten boy the one who searches and destroys” you just wanna rip and tear stuff when you listen to this song!
So what about the rest of the album then? It never gets as good as the opening track, but still it’s one hell of an album, sure you have some really blend tracks such as “Penetration” and “Death trip” but it doesen’t really matter when you look at some of the other songs on the album like “Search and destroy”, “Gimme danger”, “Your pretty face…”, “Raw power” and “Shake appeal” all classic garage rock /punk songs. If you haven’t checked out The Stooges yet this is the album to start with.
Tracklist:
Side A: Search and destroy, Gimme danger, Youre pretty face is going to hell, Penetration
Side B: Raw power, I need somebody, Shake appeal, Death trip
Artist: Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats Title: Blood Lust Label: Rise Above Records
As i missed out on the first original pressing on this album last year i have been waiting and waiting for a repress, and when Rise Above Records finally announced a second press my mind was set for the most limited version of the album, that would be the clear one wich was only released in 100 copies and was only sold through the labels webshop. The clear version was sold out in a matter of minutes but i was lucky enough to get my hands on one copy. They also slightly changed the coverart on this pressing from the original one, while the original artwork was in a red color, this pressing have a purple color.
In my oppinion i would say that this is one of the best albums that was released last year, i like the music wich can be described as a mix of doom and 60’s psychadelica rock, the album open up really strong with the track “I’ll cut you down” wich is one of my favourite tracks along with “Over and over again”. The songs more or less follow a unknown killer wich stalks and murder women in the alleys of London. “Blood Lust: A tale of greed, torture and murder” as it says on the back of the albumcover. This album is just pure magic, a classic to be, and i suggest you all to check it out.
Tracklist:
Side A: I’ll cut you down, Death’s door, Over and over again, Curse in the trees
Side B: I’m here to kill you, 13 candles, Ritual knife, Withered hand of evil
Artist: Damien Title: Memorandum Label: To The Death
So it’s finally here! I have been waiting for a release like this one for a long time now, a compilation of all Damien‘s officially released demos and their 12″ Requiem For The Dead, i have had their demos on mp3 on my computer for a long time so it’s about time that someone released it on vinyl!
Damien was a thrash metal band from Uppsala Sweden formed back in early 80’s and dissolved in 1989 just a year after the release of their first and only vinyl, the 3-track 12″ Requiem For The Dead. The first thing you think of when you see the album is that the label, To The Death, really have put some time and effort into the release, it looks really good and comes in a nice foldout cover and you also get a booklet wich have lots of pictures of flyers, democovers etc and you also get some interviews from various magazines along with a foreword by Teddy Möller from Uppsala’s thrashmetallers F.K.Ü.
The second thing that hits me is when i listen to the album, the sound is very good! I have listening to the demos i have on my computer several times before but i can’t remember them sounding this good. This is the die hard version on splatter vinyl limited and handnumbered to 100 copies. If you are into old school thrashmetal you should check out Damien. There are also another Damien compilation in the making, that one will feature demos that was never officially released and is being planned for late this year on To The Death Records…. can’t wait!

Side D: Hide and seek, Final day, Not a pleasant way to die, Death is part of the process, Knights of the realm, Knights of the realm
Artist: Black Uniforms Title: Faces Of Death Label: Hardcore Horror Records
With a mixture of teenage angst and splatter movie lyrics and fast hardcore music it’s hard not to love this band. Black Uniforms was formed back in 1981 and first broke up in 1983, the band didn’t leave much of an impact on the musicscene at that time, a poorly recorded demo and a handfull of gigs and it would take until about 1986 when the band got back together again this time with a change in the line-up. They recorded a couple of demos, one in 1986 and one in 1987 and by the end of 1988 the band wen’t into the studio once more to start recordings of what would become the Faces Of Death Lp.
The album was recorded at AXL Studios in Malmö, Sweden in only two days and was released by Gothenburg, Sweden label called Hardcore Horror Records in about 1000 copies. I really like the production of this album, i like how Fjalle’s vocals are mixed high so it stands out of the music, it add’s a more raw sound to it. The album also comes with an 2-sided A4 inlay with lyrics.
As i said, the lyrics are most about teenage angst and horror movies, specially the splatter movies wich was either banned or heavily cut here in Sweden at that time, and the track “Uncut” is just about the fact that they wanted to see their splattermovies uncut. There are also a hidden track on the end of the A-side wich is a medley of Moderat Likvidation songs.
Tracklist:
Side A: Sacrifice, City of the dead, Do u conform?, Teenage waste, Acid punk, Trapped
Side B: City of the dead 2, Uncut, Over n out, A good cop is…, Into the funhouse, Computer world
Artist: Jess And The Ancient Ones Title: Jess And The Ancient Ones Label: Svart Records
I really liked Jess And The Ancient Ones debut single, so i was really looking forward to hear their debut album, a album wich have done really good back in their homeland Finland where it hit the charts on the week of release, and when listening to the album it’s not hard to understand why. This is pretty much the same kind of easy-listening satanic rock such as The Devil’s Blood and Ghost wich are really huge/hyped in the metal scene at the moment.
Jess And The Ancient Ones have, just like The Devil’s Blood a really good female vocalist and it’s hard not to draw parallells between the two of them. The album comes in a fold out cover wich have lyrics on the inside of the foldout, the album artwork are really nice. And i would say that this is so far one of the best albums released this year (as you could see on my top 5 records so far list i published earlier). If you are into the occult easy-listening rock like the bands i mentioned earlier you should most definitely check out Jess And The Ancient Ones.
Tracklist:
Side A: Prayer for death and fire, Twilight witchcraft, Sulfur giants
Side B: Ghost riders, Devil (in G minor), Come crimson death
