Artist: Metallica
Title: Metal Up Your Ass
Label: Headbangers Records Inc
Metal Up Your Ass is one of the very first Metallica bootlegs to ever surface (the absolute first one was Frankfurt’84) this one is released by an Italian label called Headbangers Records Inc back in 1985. The first pressing was released on black vinyl (so was the third press) and they are pretty easy to find, the second pressing is a bit harder and a bit more expensive when you find em, they were released in all kind of different colours, as you can see in the photo i have the green version, but there was also released as multicolored, red, white, clear just to name a few.
The vinyl have a full Metallica liveshow from Germany 1984, and i would say that this is my favourite period of Metallica, the songs are played faster and rawer than on the studio versions and the band was really young and hungry back then. This is also the only bootleg wich features a full show from 1984 (well it was anyway, nowdays there are so many bootlegs released i don’t keep track, i am mostly interested in the old original 80’s bootlegs) the sound pretty much is what it is, it’s a bootleg, and an audience recording, you can’t ask for much, but that’s not what’s important either when you listen to bootleg recordings (or watch bootlegs videorecordings either for that matter) it’s the feeling, it’s all about the feeling! The capturing of the moment, the intensity.
