Artist: Black Trip
Title: Tvar Dabla
Label: Primitive Art
Black Trip is a band wich there have been a bit of a buzz about in the undergroundscene here in Sweden for a while now, the band have release a couple of online demosongs for streaming and have performed a couple of gigs already, but now the bands first single is available for the public.
The band only have two members (as of now anyway) Joseph Tholl (Enforcer) on vocals and Peter Stjärnvind (Krux, ex-Entombed) on guitar, bass and drums. When they play live they have a full line-up. The music is classic heavy metal but still it sounds really fresh and interesting, it’s well played but what makes it the little extra i think is the vocals of Joseph. Listening to this single takes me back to my teenageyears and how fun and exciting it was to find out about new bands and hear new music for the first time, don’t get me wrong here, i still fucking LOVE to search for new and exciting music but there is a feeling about this single that takes me back to those days and that reminds me of why i love this music so much. I have a new favourite band (amongs many other) and they are called Black Trip… can’t wait for the album!
Another really cool thing is that it’s Primitive Art that have released this single, i don’t know if anyone of you remember that label but they released a bunch of really interesting stuff in the mid 90’s like The Coffinshakers, Gehennah, Devil Lee Roth amongst others before they put the label to rest… until now! And this release is a really nice return from that label i must say. The single is released in 166 copies on Red vinyl and 500 copies on Black vinyl.
Side A: The sleeper
Side B: Eyes of the night
Artist: Year Of The Goat
Title: This Will Be Mine
Label: Van Records
The first single of the bands upcoming, yet untitled, debut album. The album wich will be released late summer/autumn this year through the label Van Records. First time i heard the single i was a bit disappointed, i really liked Year Of The Goat’s debut Ep Lucem Ferre, it was a terrific little piece of vinyl but after listening to the This Will Be Mine single the song slowly grows on me and my expectations for the full lenght album are still very high. On the B-side there is an beautiful instrumental track with some chanting called “Missa niger” wich is supposedly exclusive for this single. The single is released on red vinyl but i am not sure of how many copies.
Side A: This will be mine
Side B: Missa niger
Artist: The Hellacopters / Electric Frankenstein
The most expensive The Hellacopters vinyl to be sold on eBay is…. this one! The Hellacopters VS Electric Frankenstein split 7″ on brown vinyl (yeah, it looks more brown in reality than on the picture due to my shitty camera). So what makes this brown version so special? First off it’s the most limited and one of the most hard to get The Hellacopters vinyls out there, released in only 100 copies and was sold exclusively through the label Frank Records members club, so it was never available anywhere else. The single was also released in following colours 500 copies black vinyl, 900 copies purple vinyl and 1000 copies cherry-red vinyl.
This version on brown vinyl have only been up for sale on eBay twice and at the most it went for as high as 408 USD, crazy i know! Myself i got this one when it was released so i payed next to nothing, as i did with all my The Hellacopters vinyls. The single have two The Hellacopters song, one original “Oh yeah alright” and one April Steven’s cover “I wan’t a lip” and i would like to say that this isn’t the best The Hellacopters release there is.
Another of the most expensively sold The Hellacopters vinyls on eBay is the Twist Action 2000 7″ on blue vinyl wich sold at it’s highest price for 405 USD.
The Hellacopters side: Oh yeah alright, I wan’t a lip
Electric Frankenstein side: Learn to burn, Born wild
Artist: Imperial State Electric
Title: Pop War
This album have been rotating nonstop on my turntable ever since i got it, i think it’s really brilliant! As the title indicates Nicke Andersson here takes his Imperial State Electric to a more melodic pop vibe, if the debut album was a popish rock album i would say that this album is a bit more rockish pop album if you know what i mean. The vinyl opens up really strong with one of the best track on the album “Uh Huh” wich is a really good tune with hooks and melodies that sticks with you, just plain listening pleasure as always when Nicke is releasing music. And the albums just keeps going from that point on, sure it have a few songs wich isnt that top-notch but overall its a great album, and at this point i must say i like this one better than the debut. My favourite tracks are “Uh Huh”, “Sheltered In The Sand”, The Narrow Line” and “Enough To Break Your Heart”.
The biggest different on this album compare to earlier Imperial State Electric releases is that this time they have recorded the album as a band, and not Nicke doing all the stuff by himself. He simply brought in his touringband to join in with the recodingsessions.
When the art for the cover was first released i wasnt that pleased with it, it looked kinda silly, well it still kind of does, but holding the vinyl infront of you it sure looks very stylish, clean so to speak, delivered in a really nice gatefold sleeve wich have the lyrics and a collage of the band on the inside of the foldout. This version i picked up is the red vinyl limited to 600 copies, the album is also released in clear and black vinyl. And as i couldn’t find any song from the album on YouTube i have added the track “Rock Science” for you to listen to, the track is from the boardgame with the same name. Enjoy!
Side A: Uh huh, The narrow line, Can’t seem to shake it off my mind, Back on main, Waltz for vincent
Side B: Sheltered in the sand, Empty hands, Monarchy madness, Deride and conquer, Enough to break your heart
