Just updated my DVD Trades page with a few of the shows i have, more will come soon. Added Ghost / Ghost BC, Airbourne, Kiss, D.A.D and Celtic Frost shows.
Return Of The Vampire (the rare and unreleased) is a compilation of old Mercyful Fate recordings, some previous unreleased and some demos of already released songs. The compilation was released back in 1992 on Cd and Vinyl, the vinyl is limited to only 1000 copies and is a nice collectible amongs Mercyful Fate fans today.
The first five track are from the bands 1981 demo, “Death kiss” is an unreleased demosong for the album Don´t Break The Oath, a track that was included as a bonus when the album was remastered and rereleased back in 1997, the last three songs are also unreleased demos but i don’t know from what timeperiod. The song “M.D.A” wich stands for Mission Destroy Aliens are by far the worst piece of crap lyrics this band have ever written, and i can honestly understand why this song never got included on any album and well, “M.D.A” isnt actually a Mercyful Fate song either, it was recorded with Michael Denner’s band Danger Zone wich King Diamond did some vocals right before they changed into Mercyful Fate, as far as the other songs they are really good and hold the same standard as all the early Mercyful Fate stuff, some of the songs also did end up on their albums. “Curse of the pharaos” and “A coprse without a soul” did make it to the bands debut EP Nuns Have No Fun and “Return of the vampire” ended up several years later (1996) on the album In The Shadows, the version on that album features Lars Ulrich of Metallica on drums.
I just LOVE compilations like this from bands that i like for a few reasons, one obvious is that you get previous unreleased tracks, just there and then you got me sold! If it’s a band that i like i just got the have all the songs the band have recorded, even if it’s a horrible sounded rehearsal track recorded in the basement, GOTTA HAVE IT! Another reason i like these kind of compilations is that on the demotracks you can hear the bands first steps into becoming what they became, the first small babysteps into what made whatever band it might be into the band that i love so much. A great journey to follow and listen to the advancements that they make. For the same reason i like early liverecordings (live bootlegs) of different bands.
