I have now updated my wantlist with additional stuff i look for with Ghost, Metallica, Wasp, Rolling Stones, Watain, Ebba Grön, Hanoi Rocks to name a few, both records vinyls and tourposters, tourbook and memorbilia.
A big hype the last couple of years in the metal scene have been bands with an occult theme, take for example Ghost and The Devil’s Blood wich both have made a name for themself in the underground as well as the mainstreem scene. Huntress have the same kind of theme in their songs but what differs them from the rest is that their music is influenced by the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal rather than Blue Oyster Cult it leans more towards the raw and fast rather than the soft and melodic.
Huntress was formed in Highland Park, California and released their first EP Off With Her Head in March of 2010, the band later got signed to Napalm Records and have just released their debut album Spell Eater.
I have only heard a handfull of songs from this band but i like what i hear, it’s old school heavy metal, and Jill have a really nice range in her vocals and i have heard alot about this band both in press and on forums, so we’ll see if this is the next hype or not. You can listen to the Spell Eater (2-track promo) on Spotifyhere and you can check out the official video to the song “Eight of swords” taken from the bands debut album Spell Eater below.
