Yeah i know there havent been so much updated on this blog lately, but it’s been summer so… Anyway i will try to keep it up more frequent from now on and i also have had some really cool vinyls coming home so i will put some of em up here on this blog. This is one of them, Swedish rock n roll band The Accidents and their Dead Guys single, and as the title says, on this single they do covers of three artists wich as now dead, Buddy Holly, Johnny Thunders and Eddie Meduza. The cover is really cool handscreened and coffinshaped. And this single wich was released in only 500 copies have been sold out for a very long time now, and offcourse i missed it completely when it was released. But luckely enough the label hade a clearance sale last week and they had found a few copies of this single hidden away, so i grabbed myself a copy since this was the missing puzzle in my The Accidents discography. Couldnt find any videoclip off YouTube from this single so i took their video to the title track of the bands second studio album instead.
Tracklist:
Side A: Oboy
Side B: I wanna be loved, Tonight
Artist: The Stooges
Title: Raw Power
Label: CBS
I don’t consider myself a huge The Stooges fan, sure i have seen them live a few times and i have the albums and yeah i think that they have done some really badass songs but it’s nothing more than that.. except when it comes to the song that opens up this album; “Search and destroy” there you have three and a half minutes of pure magic! When the needle hits the wax and you hear that classic guitar riff wich seconds later rips up in a solo its like heaven and then Iggy comes in with the words “I’m a street walking cheetah with a heart full of napalm” … still in heaven… and than the classic words in the chorus “I am a world’s forgotten boy the one who searches and destroys” you just wanna rip and tear stuff when you listen to this song!
So what about the rest of the album then? It never gets as good as the opening track, but still it’s one hell of an album, sure you have some really blend tracks such as “Penetration” and “Death trip” but it doesen’t really matter when you look at some of the other songs on the album like “Search and destroy”, “Gimme danger”, “Your pretty face…”, “Raw power” and “Shake appeal” all classic garage rock /punk songs. If you haven’t checked out The Stooges yet this is the album to start with.
Tracklist:
Side A: Search and destroy, Gimme danger, Youre pretty face is going to hell, Penetration
Side B: Raw power, I need somebody, Shake appeal, Death trip

So last night it was time for me to witness Social Distortion live for the very first time, a band i have been listening to a very long time but never really had the chance to see before. I had an image of the band to be a pretty tired live act, a fact based on a few liveshows i have seen on DVD and VHS in the past, it turned out that image was completely wrong, the band was very much alive this night.
Social Distortion also had two opening acts, the first one was Alonzo & Fas 3 wich i was looking forward to see just as much as the main band because Alonzo used to play in what according to me was one of the best punkbands ever KSMB. The band did a really good and intense show, too bad it was such a short set. They played a couple of songs from KSMB opened up with a Stockholms Negrer track and also included three of their own songs, two brand new ones and also the single “Dansa som en fjäril”.
Then it was time for support act no 2, a band called Royal Republic, this was pure fucking shit. I hated it from start to finnish. But aftet that it was time for Social Distortion to enter the stage. The show startet out a bit slow i think but after the first couple of songs it was just pure joy. They had a really good setlist and played most of the songs i wanted to hear like “Ball and chain”, “Don’t drag me down”, “Mommys little monster”, “Machine gun blues” and “The story of my life” just to name a few.
I am very pleased with my first Social Distortion concert and i hope to get the chance to see them more in the future.
Okej, so it’s alot of Spiders on the blog right now, but it’s one of my favourite new bands so get used to it 🙂
Spiders just announced a single release prior to the album, it will be the track Weekend Nights and B-side will be the song “Lies” (The Strollers cover). The single will be out on September 7 and is limited to 500 copies on vinyl (will also be available as digital download). Must also say that i just love the simple but very cool coverart, can’t wait!
