The riff… it’s all about the opening riff! Pure and simple. There are a couple of songs where i can listen to the opening riff over and over again, KISS “Calling dr love” is one good example and The Hellacopters “The devil stole the beat from the lord” is another one, it’s just amazing!
“The devil stole the beat from the lord, it’s time to set things straight, braging like a brat that he got away…”
The Devil Stole The Beat From The Lord is one of my favourite singles / song by The Hellacopters, well… one of very many favourites i should say since this is litte of a favourite band of mine and have been since the first time i ever heard them sometime mid 90’s. And i am pretty pleased that i discovered the band “in time” since collecting The Hellacopters vinyls are very expensive nowadays, so i am glad i bought em all at resonable prices when they were released, for example i paid 39SEK (wich is about 6 USD) for their debut 7″-single Killing Allan when it was still a new release.
“…You’re going down and you have to pay”
The Devil Stole The Beat From The Lord was released in two different versions, the European (Swedish) version on White Jazz was released as a regular black vinyl single and the American version was released on Sub Pop as a really goodlooking Picture Disc 7″-single. White Jazz also released the single on CD.
