Title: Opus Eponymous
Label: Rise Above Records
After the release of the bands debut single “Elizabeth b/w Death Knell” there went a huge buzz about this band in the undergroundscene, a band that had anonymous members and did a very popish satanic style of music. A year later the buzz is not only in the undergroundscene but everywhere, specielly here in sweden. The band are now working on their second album so it will be interesting to see if the interest in the band will be as huge when that album comes out.
Anyway, now we concentrate on the debut album “Opus Eponymous”, what you see here is the die hard edition, it was sold only though the recordlabels website and released in 300 copies, it comes in a nice box, gatefold vinyl (black vinyl) also comes with a huge poster and a patch (the bands logo on patch), the record sold out fairly quick a couple of days or so if i remember correctly.
The music as i said before are very popish with great melodies and i can imagine alot of people just ignore the band becuse of the image and think it’s a blackmetal band or something, but boy are they missing out on some good music. The band really lives up to the hype if you ask me (i was already hooked with the demo and the 7″-single), from the first intro track to the finnishing track this is pure joy to listen to. I like everything about this band, the image, the music, the lyrics and also the liveshows wich are very very good.
The Japan released Cd also come with the bonustrack “Here comes the sun”, a Beatles cover the band also include in their liveshows now. For me personally this is one of the best albums released in 2010 and i can’t wait to hear what the bands second fullenght will sound like.
