GOAT a new band from Sweden

There have been a bit of a  fuzz about the band Goat here in Sweden on various forums and such. The band, based in Gothenburg Sweden, playes a mix of psychedelic rock, african tribe music and voodoo rituals. It’s very hard to describe the bands music, but from what i have heard i really like it, some songs anyway, well, some of the songs i have heard are brilliant while other i didnt like so much.

The band released their album World Music not too long ago and is available on both Cd and Vinyl. Check out a live clip here below, i think it sound really interesting and i might just grab a vinyl for myself. What do you think?

WASP – Nordfest, sundsvall, sweden 121012

So last night it was finally time for WASP to enter Sundsvall Sweden with their 30 years of thunder celebration show, a show wich was divided into three parts. First part with songs old songs from the first four albums, a second part dedicated to The Crimson Idol album, and a third part with new songs and everything in between… or so it was said.

When i first saw the setlist from the show at the tour premiere i was really excited cos it included the songs “Chainsaw charlie”, “The heretic”, “Widowmaker” and “Scream until you like it”. Those songs was only played at the first shows and by the time the tour hit Sweden they were long gong cut out from the setlist, a bit of a dissappointment.

Nevertheless i really liked the show, the band sounded really good (and sure they had some pre-recorded backup vocals etc but who cares!) amd seemed in a good mood.

Other bands that played this night here in Sundsvall at Nordfest was Year Of The Goat wich play melodic satanic pop-metal in the same vain as Ghost and The Devils Blood, it was my first time seeing them but since i really like their EPs they put out so far i really like them live also even though they didn’t quite look the was i expected them to.

Second band on the bill beside WASP we watched was Necrophobic, and they play classic swedish death metal. Now i just managed to see about 3 songs with them since i wanted to get a good position at the WASP show, but from the little i saw it sounded and looked really good.

Here (and the one above) is a few photos i took from the show:

Black Trip – Tvar Dabla 7″ (2012)

Artist: Black Trip
Title: Tvar Dabla
Label: Primitive Art

Black Trip is a band wich there have been a bit of a buzz about in the undergroundscene here in Sweden for a while now, the band have release a couple of online demosongs for streaming and have performed a couple of gigs already, but now the bands first single is available for the public.

The band only have two members (as of now anyway) Joseph Tholl (Enforcer) on vocals and Peter Stjärnvind (Krux, ex-Entombed) on guitar, bass and drums. When they play live they have a full line-up. The music is classic heavy metal but still it sounds really fresh and interesting, it’s well played but what makes it the little extra i think is the vocals of Joseph. Listening to this single takes me back to my teenageyears and how fun and exciting it was to find out about new bands and hear new music for the first time, don’t get me wrong here, i still fucking LOVE to search for new and exciting music but there is a feeling about this single that takes me back to those days and that reminds me of why i love this music so much. I have a new favourite band (amongs many other) and they are called Black Trip… can’t wait for the album!

Another really cool thing is that it’s Primitive Art that have released this single, i don’t know if anyone of you remember that label but they released a bunch of really interesting stuff in the mid 90’s like The Coffinshakers, Gehennah, Devil Lee Roth amongst others before they put the label to rest… until now! And this release is a really nice return from that label i must say. The single is released in 166 copies on Red vinyl and 500 copies on Black vinyl.

Tracklist:
Side A: The sleeper
Side B: Eyes of the night

Imperial State Electric / Smoke Mohawk – Split 7″ (2012)

Artist: Imperial State Electric / Smoke Mohawk
Title: Split
Label: Lightning Records

Talking about the upcoming Imperial State Electric vinyl single in my previous post, here is another brand new single by the band wich was released last week. This is a split single with Norweigan band Smoke Mohawks, i don’t know much about them other than they features member(s) from Glueficer.

On this single both bands do one cover each of a Blue Öyster Cult song, a really fun idea i think, and as always Nicke and his Imperial State Electric boys manage do to it very very good. Check it out before it’s sold out, wich usually happens really quick when it comes to Imperial State Electric singles. The single is released in 500 copies on black vinyl.

Tracklist:
Side A: (Imperial State Electric) Cagey cretins
Side B: (Smoke Mohawk) Flaming telepaths
